Inability to repay a loan of a mere Rs 40 cost a man his life at Odisha's Sundargarh district, police said today.
Kailash Munda, a brick kiln labourer was allegedly beaten to death at Bhogopali village, about 140 km from here, by his niece yesterday after a fight over the return of the money he had taken from her.
Police later arrested the dead man's niece and her husband,both of them also brick kiln workers.
